Quid is made and supported by one person. Most questions are answered below; anything else reaches me directly by email, usually within two working days.
Common questions
Quid is a free download with a 30-day free trial of everything. Every feature is unlocked the moment you install it — no account, no card, nothing to enter.
After thirty days, Quid asks you once whether you want to keep it. The full app is £19.99 as a one-time in-app purchase. There is no subscription and no renewal — you own the app and every future v1.x update.
Nothing is ever charged automatically. If you decide Quid is not for you, do nothing — you are not billed, and your data stays on your phone until you delete the app. When you do buy, the payment goes through the App Store under the Apple Account you already use. Quid never asks you for a card.
It is gone. Everything you enter into Quid — accounts, transactions, budgets, goals, debts, investments, bills, categories and tax documents — is stored only in the app's own storage on your iPhone. Deleting Quid deletes all of it.
There is no copy on a Quid server, because there is no Quid server. Nobody can restore it for you, and nobody else ever had it. That is the design rather than a limitation, but it does mean the next answer matters.
Quid does not run its own backup service. Your data is covered by your iPhone's ordinary device backup, which Apple encrypts and stores in your own iCloud account or on your own computer — under your Apple Account, not mine. I cannot see, read or restore it.
To make sure you have one:
Restoring that backup onto a new iPhone brings Quid's data with it. This is a backup, not a sync — Quid does not copy anything between devices, and data does not appear on a second iPhone by itself.
Because bank sync is the thing that makes every other finance app a data business. Connecting your bank means handing credentials or an open-banking token to a third-party aggregator, which then holds a live, itemised feed of everything you spend, on servers you do not control.
Quid takes the other trade: you type in what you want to track, and in exchange there is no aggregator, no account, no server and nothing to be breached. It is more effort on your side, and it is the reason the App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected in all fourteen categories.
It is not on the roadmap. Adding it would undo the entire point of the app.
Quid's Daily Briefing, Debt Coach analysis and budget suggestions run on Apple's on-device foundation models, so they need an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with it turned on in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri.
On an iPhone that does not support it, everything else in Quid works exactly the same and the AI sections are simply hidden. No feature you have paid for depends on a cloud service, and no prompt or figure is ever sent off the device on any iPhone.
Yes — refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by me. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and request a refund for Quid. Apple decides the outcome under their own terms and your statutory rights.
The 30-day free trial exists so you can decide before any money changes hands. If something is wrong with the app, email me first — I would rather fix it.
No. You can choose from the supported ISO 4217 currencies and Quid will format and budget in that currency, but it does not fetch exchange rates, convert between currencies, or calculate foreign exchange gains and losses. A figure you enter in one currency stays in that currency.
No. The Tax Year Summary and the document vault for payslips, P60s and P45s are built around UK tax years and HMRC paperwork, so they appear for UK users on GBP and are hidden elsewhere. Every other feature works anywhere.
Email support@quidapp.uk. It reaches me, not a queue, and I answer within about two working days.
If you are reporting a bug, the bug report page lists the four details that let me reproduce it first time. Please do not include bank details, card numbers, passwords or account numbers in an email — I never need them.
